MS Dhoni retirement news: Most capped player in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL), two-time World Cup and four-time IPL winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, arguably the greatest-ever player to feature in world's richest T20 tournament, is likely to play 'one more' IPL season. Throughout IPL 2023, CSK legend MS Dhoni has dropped hints about the ongoing season being his last one but he left his die-hard fanbase stunned when during the toss for CSK vs LSG match, he told commentator Danny Morrison that he hasn't decided whether IPL 2023 is going to be his final season or not.

After Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) final home game in IPL 2023 on Sunday (May 14), franchise’s CEO  provided a big update about the 41-year-old's future in IPL.

"We believe MS Dhoni is going to play next season as well, so I hope fans will continue to support us like every time," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said.

MS Dhoni has been leading Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Indian Premier League (IPL) ever since he was acquired by the franchise for Rs 6 crore in first-ever IPL auction. Under Dhoni's captaincy, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won four IPL finals, reached playoffs 11 times in last 13 IPL seasons and nine IPL finals. Dhoni is among few players who have been part of all 16 editions of IPL to date.

Chennai Super Kings suffered a six-wicket loss against KKR in their final league stage match at Chepauk in IPL 2023, also denting their chances of qualifying for IPL 2023 Playoffs.

Despite the loss, the entire CSK squad, led by captain MS Dhoni, did a lap of honour to show fans their gratitude.

Earlier, another CSK legend Suresh Raina, one of Dhoni's closest friends, had made a big revelation regarding Dhoni's retirement plans.

"Main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play one more year)," were Dhoni's words to Raina during their last meeting in IPL 2023.
