Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had to settle for sixth position in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Points Table after losing to defending champions Gujarat Titans by six wickets in their final league stage match at the Chinnasamy stadium. The result ended Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) campaign in the Indian Premier League and paved way for five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians' official entry into IPL 2023 Playoffs as the fourth team, alongside Gujarat Titans (GT), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Coming back to the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) made 197/5 in their must-win final league stage match against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Chinnaswamy, courtesy of batting legend Virat Kohli's seventh IPL century and a gritty knock from skipper Faf du Plessis (28 off 19 balls). This was Virat's second straight hundred in the tournament.
In reply, GT's in-form opener Shubman Gill slammed a sparkling century, remaining unbeaten on a 52-ball 104, while Vijay Shankar contributed with a crucial 35-ball 53, eventually dashing home team RCB's Playoffs hopes by chasing down the target in 19.1 overs.
Notably, after three long years, for the first time since 2019, RCB played a match in league stage to make the playoffs. Sadly, defeat against GT denied them a berth in Playoffs.
