The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 clash between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Lucknow Super Giants on Monday could easily go down as one of the all-time classics. The match went down to the last ball and eventually it was the Lucknow side who produced a 1-wicket victory over Bangalore.

However, it was such a roller-coaster of a game that it was hard even for players to keep their cool and calm. While Avesh Khan got carried away after LSG had securing a win on the last ball and threw his helmet which was dubbed "aggressive behaviour", trying to defend 212 Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis also failed to finish his team's 20 overs on time.

"The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match 15 against the Lucknow Super Giants at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, on Monday," an official release from the IPL read.

"As it was the team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, captain Faf du Plessis was fined Rs 12 lakhs," it added.

Meanwhile, Avesh has also been reprimanded for his action.

"Lucknow Super Giants’ Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct. Mr Avesh admitted to level 1 offence 2.2 of IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction," the release said.

"For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," it concluded.

Talking about the match, while the home team scored 212/2 in their 20 overs riding on half-centuries from Virat Kohli (61 off 44), Faf du Plessis (79* off 46) and Glenn Maxwell (59 off 29), Lucknow reached their target of 213 on the last ball with Marcus Stoinis (65 off 30) and Nicholas Pooran (62 off 19) playing pivotal roles with the bat.
