After the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 clash between the Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad in which the Orange Army succumbed to their third successive defeat in a row, the captain of the home side Aiden Markram had no hesitation in criticising the team's batters.

Notably, SRH needed 145 to win but only ended up scoring 137 for 6 to lose the contest by 7 runs. After the fixture, Markram slammed the intent of the batting unit and said that for their good effort their bowlers did not deserve to be on the losing side but because of the poor peformace of the batters, even they will have to accept the defeat.

"Not good with the bat. Not enough intent, not excited to win a game of cricket unfortunately. We have to go back and see how we can be free and be better. It is difficult, you can say all the right things but guys have to buy into it. We want to play a certain brand of cricket and if we get it wrong doing that then we'll sleep a lot better at night. Tonight we lacked intent, unfortunately we are letting us down because of a lack of intent. I would love to do that to be honest, something I quite enjoy doing, guys need to work hard [on motivating the team]," Markram said.

"Incredibly proud of them, kept it pretty simple and used the conditions really well. Our bowling does not deserve to be on the losing side but a small bit of positivity I suppose," he added, praising the team's bowlers.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/11) and T Natarajan (3/28) were exceptional with the ball for Hyderabad on Monday but ended up on the losing side.

The result leaves SRH languishing at the ninth place on the points table with 2 wins from 7 matches and a net run rate of -0.725.
