IPL 2022: Matches To Be Played With 25% Capacity In Stadiums As Per Covid-19 Norms, BCCI Gives Nod

IPL 2022: The Indian Premier League (IPL) in a statement said that the 2022 tournament will see the return of fans back to the stadium. As per Covid-19 protocols, fans will be allowed at 25% occupancy in the stands.

"The15th edition of the IPL will welcome the fans back to the stadiums after a brief hiatus owing to the pandemic," read a statement from IPL. The IPL will be played across three venues in Mumbai - Wankhede, DY Patil, and Brabourne - and one in Pune - MCA Stadium. 

The ticket sales began on March 23, 2022, at 12 pm IST. Fans can buy match tickets at www.iplt20.com and on www.BookMyShow.com.

The first match of the tournament will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders. 

A total of 204 players were picked by the 10 franchise after shelling out a total of Rs 551.70 crore during the IPL 2022 mega auction. Ishan Kishan (Rs 15.25 cr), Deepak Chahar (Rs 14 cr) and Shreyas Iyer (Rs 12.25 cr) emerged as the top-three earners.

Over the years, Mumbai Indians (5), Chennai Super Kings (4) and Kolkata Knight Riders (2) have won the maximum IPL titles.
