IPL 2022: In a high-scoring encounter, and perhaps in the most exciting game so far of this year's Indian Premier League, Gujarat Titans (GT) prevailed after Rahul Tewatia smashed Odean Smith for two sixes in two balls.

Choosing to bowl first after winning the toss, Hardik Pandya's Gujarat was not able to restrict Punjab Kings for a low score. Liam Livingstone's half-century and supporting knocks from Ritesh Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan took Punjab's score to 189 in their 20 overs.

Rashid Khan, as usual, was the pick of the bowlers. In a match where the average scoring rate was 9.5 runs per over, the Afghan spin-king gave away just 22 runs in his four overs and also picked u three key wickets, of Shahrukh Khan, Livingstone, and Dhawan.

When Gujarat came on to bat, Matthew Wade was the first to get out for a small score of six runs. Sai Sudarshan came to join Shubhman Gill had a 101 run partnership. Gill was the backbone of the entire innings who scored 96 runs and fell short of a well-deserved century by 4 runs only.

When Gill got out, Gujarat needed 20 runs in 7 balls with Miller and Pandya at the crease. Pandya got run out which paved the way for Rahul Tewatia, the eventual hero of the match. He hit two back-to-back sixes when 12 runs were needed in two balls.

After winning the match, captain Hardik Pandya said, "Hats off to Tewatia. It is difficult to go out there and hit, and to do it under this pressure is great. It was Kings' game, I have sympathy for them. Gill is telling everybody that he is there. A lot of credit goes to Sai as well for that partnership."
