IPL Auction 2021 was a merry ride for the RCB fans. The franchise spent big sums to buy some star players and also smartly invested in younger players at their base prices. The team in going in the competition with some familiar faces and also with some young and promising Indian players. First up, RCB was relentless in signing Glenn Maxwell and Kylie Jamieson as they spent 14.25 crore and 15 crore respectively on the two overseas players.

There were some eyebrows raised when RCB spent so much on these two players, but they were quick to redeem themselves as they bought five players for a total sum of one crore rupees. Five players that include Sachin Baby and Mushtaq Ali Trophy star Mohammed Azharuddeen.

But why do we say that RCB have it in them to win the IPL title this time? Below are the reasons why:

Best Top Order:

If you tell a person unaware about franchise cricket that Kohli, DeVilliers and Maxwell are playing together in one team, then that person won’t be able to believe that it’s a fact. Well, apart from these stars, RCB also ha Kerala’s Sachin Baby who has proven his worth time and again in the domestic cricket. Also they have a certain Mohammed Azharuddeen who has a 100 of 37 balls for Kerala which he scored recently. Thus, the batting line-up looks as solid as any other team in the competition.

Variety of all-rounders:

When RCB bought Daniel Christian, they would have felt complete as the player brings in not only the ability to clear the boundary on his own will, but also can pick up crucial wickets with his seam bowling. Apart from Christian, Maxwell’s addition is also seen as an all-rounder in the team. Washington Sundar’s recent performances against England also makes the team look balanced. Sundar’s ability to slow down the run flow and also hit crucial boundaries is what Virat Kohli would be looking at.

Better Bowling:

Since the inaugural season of IPL, RCB had a good batting side but somehow they lacked in the bowling department. This year, they seemed to have filled this gap with inclusion of variety of bowlers combining with the ones they already had. Mohammed Siraj is one of the spear head of Indian bowling attack and has the trust of Kohli to bowling front-up in the innings. Then RCB has the millionaire Kylie Jamieson of New Zealand upon whom the RCB fans have high hopes. Navdeep Saini can also bowl good line and length in the power play overs which could restrict the run flow. Kane Richardson can also be a useful fellow with the ball. Plus with the inclusion of Christian, Virat Kohli would be having a cushion of an extra bowler in the team. Now let’s talk about the most powerful weapon that Kohli has; his spin-bowlers. Yuzvendra Chahal, Adam Zampa, Washington Sundar are all world class bowlers that Virat Kohli has in his arsenal.

So, the things look good for RCB on paper. Some might argue that they always have a great side on paper but fail to perform on the big occasion. But this time, the bowling side also looks much more balanced than the previous years. If all things go fine for RCB, it won’t be a surprise if we see them go all the way to lift the 14th IPL Trophy.
