IPL 2021, Eliminator: Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their eliminator match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2021. KKR defeated RCB by four wickets after a dismal batting show by Virat Kohli's men.

Gautam Gambhir, former KKR captain, said that Virat Kohli's passion and energy for the game is not enough for a team to win trophies. He also questioned Kohli's tactical play.

This was Virat Kohli's last match as RCB's captain as he had already announced that he won't be leading the side from the next IPL onwards. Virat was RCB's captain for the last 8 years.

"He's got a long, long run. Eight years is a very long time. And yes Sanjay spoke about his passion and stuff but probably he was never the best tactician or never had the shrewdness as a captain which is required on a cricket field.

You have got to be instinctive and ahead of the game. Yes, you would see the passion and energy but that's not enough to win you trophies. You got to be a good tactician as well," said Gautam Gambhir on ESPNCricinfo while talking to Sanjay Manjarekar.

Virat Kohli has already announced that he will not be continuing as the Indian T20 captain after the World Cup is concluded.

Kohli was RCB's captain for eight years, but he did not win the trophy even once, He reached the final too, but was not able to cross the line with his team.

"He's captained India for a very long time, he's captained India in all three formats so I am sure that from the tactician and shrewdness point of view, he was not right up there," Gambhir added.
