IPL 2021: Rajasthan Royals have suffered a major setback before the start of the UAE-leg of Indian Premier League (IPL) season 14. England's star batsman Jos Buttler will not join Rajasthan Royals for the second leg of IPL 14. The Rajasthan franchise has roped in New Zealand's emerging wicket-keeper batsman Glenn Phillips as a replacement for Butler.
Jos Butler's wife is going to give birth to her second child soon. Jos Buttler has decided to stay away from the second half of IPL 14 to spend more time with his family. Rajasthan Royals provided this information about Butler's unavailability on Twitter.
Rajasthan Royals said, "Jos Buttler will not be part of the remainder of #IPL2021, as he and Louise are expecting a second child soon. We wish them well, and can't wait for the newest member of the #RoyalsFamily."
Phillips can prove to be a good replacement
Buttler's exit is no less than a big setback for Rajasthan Royals. The team led by Sanju Samson has so far won only three out of seven matches. Rajasthan Royals need to win at least five more matches to stay in the race for the playoffs. Butler has scored 254 runs in IPL 14 for Rajasthan Royals. Even Ben Stokes' exit has caused hindrances in Rajasthan Royals' dreams this year.
However, Glenn Phillips can prove to be a good replacement for Rajasthan Royals. Philip has so far scored 505 runs in 25 International T20 matches at a strike rate of around 150, including a century and two half-centuries. Phillips had a good tournament in England where he played for Welsh Fire. He also scored 80 runs in 35 balls in one inning.
