IPL 2021: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) changed their captain mid-way in the tournament. After 5 losses in the 6 matches played so far by SRH, the Hyderabad team management took a stern call to revoke Warner from his captainship duties and hand it over to Kane Williamson.

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain was also the captain of the franchise in 2018 when he took the team to the final of the tournament. After their recent loss against CSK, the Sunrisers captain took full responsibility for the defeat. He said, “I take full responsibility for the way I batted, it was really slow, found a lot of fielders and I got frustrated. The way Manish batted was exceptional. Kane got us to a respectable total, but I take full responsibility as it was a total below par. I probably hit 15 good shots to the fielders, I couldn't do much about it.”

SRH announced their new captain via a Twitter post:

Some fans were happy that Williamson will lead the team. It is a daunting task for the Kiwi to resurrect the team from a point where it looks extremely difficult that AH could stage a comeback. Check out some reactions from fans:

Williamson has 14 wins and 12 losses in the 26 IPL matches he has captained so far. "The decision has not come lightly as the management respects the enormous impact David Warner has had for the franchise over a number of years," the Sunrisers statement said. "As we face the remainder of the season, we are sure David will continue to help us strive for success both on and off the field."

The franchisee also said that there will be a big change in the overseas combination in the next match. It is highly likely that Warner might lose his place in the team based on his poor performance.
