IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals moved to the top of the table after registering a comprehensive win against Punjab Kings. They defeated PBKS by 7 wickets. Despite being on the losing side, the stand-in captain for Punjab Kings, Mayank Agarwal was awarded the Man of the Match award. DC grabbed the number one spot after this win against Punjab. It was the 6th win of DC's campaign this year.

Early in the evening, PBKS won the toss and decided to bat first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It looked like an ok decision to bat first but the pitch only got better for batting. Punjab Kings scored a struggling 166/6 in their 20 overs. Mayank Agarwal played a splendid inning of 99 not out in 58 balls but he got very little support from the other end. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the bowlers for DC as he picked up three wickets.

When DC came on to bat to chase the score of 167, they seemed like they were in the mood to end this chase in a hurry. When DC lost their first wicket after power play, they already had scored 63 runs in 6.1 overs. The chase became easier after the base provided by the DC openers, Shaw and Dhawan. He scored 69 in 47 balls to ensure a smooth win for Delhi Capitals, eventually winning the match in 17.4 overs.

Let's see what the captains had to say:

Rishabh Pant: Shikhar and Prithvi gave us a very good start. In the first innings, the ball was gripping and even in the second innings, it was slow but the way they started was commendable. It feels so good when you have a great start in every match. Most of the things are sorted but we need to try a few things for the Kolkata leg

Mayank Agarwal: Would've liked two points but we were ten short on that wicket and for the kind of PowerPlay they had, we had to really scramble there. One batsman had to bat through and that was the plan, it was my day and tried to get as many as we can but didn't get as many in the middle overs but at least ended well. We have to shut this off and turn up next game and put our best foot forward, figure ways how to get those two points.

This was Delhi's 6th victory in 8 matches played so far by the franchise.
