Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni underwent a Covid-19 test on Wednesday for the upcoming thirteenth season in the United Arab Emirates and his coronavirus test report is expected to come out later in the day.


The micro praxis lab at private Guru Nanak hospital in Ranchi took Dhoni's sample from his farmhouse in the state capital on Wednesday. Apart from Dhoni, another CSK cricketer Monu Kumar Singh also gave his samples.

Ahead of the much awaited 13th edition of the IPL which gets underway in the UAE from September 19, all the eight franchises have begun their basic testing and quarantine protocols in line with the BCCI SOP on medical guidelines to be followed before squads fly out to Dubai from August 20.

As per reported in a couple of media portals, Dhoni, along with his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Monu Kumar, has given his Covid test sample on Wednesday.

Both MS Dhoni and Monu Kumar will leave for Chennai on August 14 provided they test negative for Covid-19.

There have already been two COVID-19 cases in IPL franchises over the past couple of weeks. While Rajasthan Royals fielding coach Dishant Yagnik has been placed in quarantine after testing positive for the novel virus on August 12, Kings XI Punjab batsman Karun Nair has recovered from the viral infection after he too tested positive for the virus around two weeks back
