IPL 2024 Playoff Race: As summer showers sweep across parts of India, there's a possibility that tonight's IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium could be affected. According to the latest weather reports for Hyderabad on Wednesday (May 8), rain is forecasted, potentially marking the first rain-affected match of IPL 2024.

If the IPL 2024 match between SRH and LSG is abandoned due to rain, both teams will earn a point each and rise above in the top four of the IPL 2024 points table.

Nevertheless, the abandoned match means both teams will have one less opportunity to strengthen their position in the race for IPL 2024 playoffs.

In the IPL 2024 Points Table, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) holds the fourth position in IPL 2024 Points Table with 12 points, whereas Lucknow Super Giants sits in sixth place with the same number of points.

Which teams will benefit if SRH vs LSG IPL 2024 match gets washed out due to rain?

With KKR and RR firmly occupying the top two spots in IPL 2024 points table, the race for the third and fourth positions is set to intensify among the remaining teams.

If tonight's SRH vs LSG match is abandoned due to rain, both SRH and LSG stand to gain a point each, potentially pushing them ahead of CSK, who currently have 12 points. This scenario could see SRH and LSG entering the top four in the standings, intensifying the playoff race among the six remaining contenders: CSK, LSG, SRH, DC, RCB, and PBKS.

CSK could swiftly re-enter the playoff race by winning their next match against GT on May 10, potentially displacing LSG from the top four.

If tonight's SRH vs LSG match is washed out, SRH stands to benefit the most, especially considering their slightly better net run rate compared to LSG and DC. However, a potential washout could make it challenging for RCB and PBKS to secure playoff berths.

Both SRH and LSG are likely hoping for an uninterrupted game or, at the very least, a five-over-per-side match. Teams generally aim for at least 16 points to secure a spot in IPL playoffs. SRH and LSG wouldn't want to risk falling short with 15 points due to a washed-out match at the end of the league stage.
