Former Chennai Super Kings all-rounder and their current bowling coach Dwayne Bravo has shared his opinion on MS Dhoni's batting position in IPL 2023. Bravo seemed to be in agreement with Dhoni's decision to bat lower down the order.

Notably, while Dhoni has batted as high as the number 5 position on many a occasions in the past, this season he has been preserving himself and hasn't batted any higher than umber 7. With the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube and Ravinda Jadeja along with the opening pair of Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad all in good form, Dhoni hasn't had to do much with the bat either but has done his job with a few quickfire cameos whenever he has been required to do that in crunch situations.

"That is the position he has to bat. Everyone is batting higher than him and he takes that responsibility and ownership upon himself to bat lower down the order because the likes of Jadeja, Rayudu, and Dube, he wants to give these guys as many opportunities as possible. He is happy to just play the finishing role," Bravo said at a press conference ahead of CSK's game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Thursday.

Bravo then talked about the morale at the CSK camp given that the Men in Yellow find themselves at the top of the points table after 7 matches.

"The CSK morale is very high, and that has nothing to do with the results. We are a team that is normally very level irrespective of whether we perform well or not."

"But it is always better when we are doing well. So far, we have started the season on a positive note and we just have to keep the momentum and keep winning cricket games. Tomorrow’s game against RR is going to be a very hard game," he added.
