Mumbai Indians’ batter Suryakumar Yadav once again showed why he is rated so highly, smashing 83 runs in just 35 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday. India’s Mr 360 played shots all around the ground and tormented the RCB’s bowlers. Former India player Zaheer Khan lauded Suryakumar Yadav and spoke about his heroics during a JioCinema show.
“They need to hold his bat from behind or hold his legs, he’s been batting like that. There was a tough phase but when he found his rhythm, the good became even better. This will never be good news for the bowlers.”
“The way he bats and the way he approaches it, no field placement can help them. Every time I see them play, it seems like the bowlers are trying to bowl outside the off-stump, pack the side with four players, and SKY is still hitting fours and you cannot stop this,” added the former India pacer.
Talking about the match, Jason Behrendorff provided an early breakthrough in the game by picking up the wickets of Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat. But then, skipper Faf du Plessis (65 runs in 41 balls) and Glenn Maxwell (68 runs in just 33 balls) batted well and scored half-centuries, taking their team to a massive total of 199 for 6 in 20 overs.
In reply, MI’s Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera sailed their team’s boat to victory over RCB by six wickets on Tuesday. Opener Ishan Kishan also played a useful hand of 42 runs in just 21 deliveries and gave his team a good start.
"Much needed from the team's point of view. I am very happy to win a home game like this. I mean they come up with a plan. They tried to make me hit to the bigger part. Take the pace off and bowl slowly. I said Nehal let's hit it hard and hit it into the gaps and run hard."
"Your practice has to be the same as what you intend to do in matches. I know where my runs are. We have open net sessions. I know my game. I don't do anything different," Suryakumar said.
