Veteran Indian batter Rohit Sharma has been going through a rough patch in the ongoing IPL 2023. MI’s star batter is the most successful captain in the history of IPL as under his leadership, Mumbai clinched five titles. Despite being one of the most flamboyant batters in the IPL’s history, Rohit has not been able to make runs in the last two seasons of the cash-rich league.

In the last year’s IPL, the Hitman didn't collect a single half-century, failing fire for Mumbai Indians this year too.  The senior batter has a below-average of 17.36 in 11 games this season, scoring only 191 runs.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri also spoke about the same and looked unhappy with Rohit's shot selection. According to him, he should give himself a bit more time.

“I think give yourself a little bit more time. His shot selection is not the greatest. He mentioned he has a different role to play. But give yourself that little bit more time, his great strength is his ability to play cricketing shots and he has more time than a lot of players in the world when it comes to playing the quicks,” Shastri told Star Sports.

"Back your strength, don't try and be too cute too early. You have got all the shots in the book, you can make up later on. Just a little bit more time in the first 6 balls or so. Play more cricketing shots rather than trying to improvise early on," former India coach added.

Earlier, on Tuesday, skipper Rohit registered another forgetful score with the bat as he was sent to the pavilion after making  7 off 8 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai-based batter has gathered 6070 runs in 238 IPL matches, he played so far.
