Background
Although there might not be a place in the Playoffs on offer anymore, there will still be something to play for when Delhi Capitals (DC) host Gujarat Giant (GG) in WPL 2024. Delhi are currently at the top of the table in the Women's Premier League but now have a chance to finish the league stage with the most number of wins, if they beat GG.
Delhi Capitals are all but guaranteed of a direct entry into the finals but Mumbai can still beat then to the top of the table on the points table. However, for that to happen MI will need help from GG who need to win by a massive margin in order for Mumbai to have a chance to beat Delhi. Gujarat have purpose to play as well because the season might have ended as far as context is concerned but they would look to end the season on a high with a win.
All in all, the stage looks set for what could be a fascinating fixture as Delhi would not want to lose at this stage while Gujarat would be desperate to end with a win so that they could take some confidence heading into the next season of the first-class cricket competition which will the third edition of the tournament.
