MS Dhoni is no ordinary cricketer. The former India captain may have announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020 but the kind of impact that he has had on the sport and the lives of fellow cricketers that he has captained and numerous others that he has inspired is unparalled and that is the reason that he enjoys a cult following in the country.

As he steps on to the field to lead the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2023 final, one that many are assuming could be the final time he leads the Men in Yellow in IPL, there will be several hearts that will beat for Dhoni and cheer for Chennai even though they might not necessarily be Chennai fans. That is sheerly because of what Dhoni has meant to Indians and what has he managed to achieve as a captain of the Indian cricket team captain.

And now hours before the start of the IPL 2023 final between CSK and Gujarat Titans (GT), Richard Madley, the  auctioneer who sold MS Dhoni in the first-ever IPL auction has shared a picture of Dhoni's autograph which had got for his son. "Selling #Dhoni in the first #IPL auction was a career highlight & meeting him was very special. He signed this for my son @harrymadley6 Good luck today #CSK #WhistlePodu #Yellove," he tweeted.

Dhoni has already led CSK to four titles and if Chennai manage to win today in what will be the legendary cricketer's record 250th IPL match, he will become the second captain after Rohit Sharma to have won as many titles. IPL 2023 final will commence later this evening at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad with the first ball slated to be bowled at 07:30 pm (IST).
