Kolkata Knight Riders had their star West Indies imports Sunil Narine and Andre Russell join the squad ahead of the thirteenth edition of the Indian Premier League on Sunday as the Windies T20 stalwarts flew in from the Caribbean to Abu Dhabi to be part of the team's campaign  for the cash T20 tournament which gets underway from September 19 in the UAE.

Apart from Narine and Bravo duo, KKR coach Brendon McCullum and spinner Chris Green also landed up in Abu Dhabi to join up with the rest of the squad.


All members of the KKR  team who landed up in Abu Dhabi will now undergo a 6-day quarantine period in their respective hotel room as part of the standard procedures and protocols laid down by the BCCI as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus ahead of the upcoming season.




Once the quarantine period is over, the members can join their teammates in the training session provided they return with three negative COVID tests in this time frame.

Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum was the coach of Trinbago Knight Riders side which lifted their fourth CPL title beating St Lucia Zouks in the finals on Thursday night. Star off-spinner Narine was an integral part of the champion Trinbago Knight Riders team while Andre Russell played for Jamaica Tallawahs.

The IPL 2020 will be played across three venues in the UAE from September 19 till November 10. Defending champion Mumbai Indians will take on Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener on September 19 in Abu Dhabi. Kolkata Knight Riders begin their IPL 13 campaign against Mumbai Indians on September 23.
