Varun Chakravarthy matches Jaydev Unadkat’s bid of 8 crores 40 lakhs. He has been picked up by Kings XI Punjab after a bidding war that went on for close to 10 minutes.
Hold your breath! Because Tamil Nadu mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy is set become a millionaire overnight. Don’t even try and guess his amount. The bidding war is still on, his base price was 20 lakhs.
Shivam Dube sold to Royal Challengers Bangalore for 5 crores, yes you read that right. His base price was 20 lakhs. Now you do the math.

South African spinner Khary Pierre goes unsold

Indian medium pacer Mohit Sharma returns to Chennai Super Kings for a whopping 5 crores. He last played for Kings XI Punjab.
Who says domestic performance doesn’t pay? Ask Varun Aaron. From a base price of 20 lakhs, he attracts a bid of 2 crore 40 lakhs and is sold to Rajasthan Royals. He was absent from IPL for 2 years and now makes a strong comeback in the league with a new team.
Indian fast bowlers stellar show in the Test matches in Australia are paying rich dividends. After Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami now attracts a big some. After being released by Delhi, he finds a new home in Kings XI Punjab for 4 crores 80 lakhs.

Ishant Sharma has found a bidder! The performance in Australia pays off. He has been picked up by Delhi Capitals for 1 crore 10 lakhs.
Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab jump in the bidding. But Rajasthan Royals bring him back in the team with 8 crores 40 lakhs. Well, a profit of 3 crores, if you ask Rajasthan owners.
Round 2 begins with Jaydev Unadkat – the highest paid Indian last year, attracting a big of 11.5 crores. This year too, he has started off well with Rajasthan and Delhi going all out. The current bid stands with Royals at 4 crores.

Fit-again Wriddhiman Saha returns to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 1 crore 20 lakhs. He was released by SRH after an iffy IPL season but he has been picked up again. SRH needed a wicket-keeper in their ranks, their only choice till now was Bengal’s Sreevats Goswami.
West Indies wicket-keeper batsman Nicholas Pooran has been picked up by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping 4 crore 20 lakhs. Kings XI were in search of a quality wicket-keeper and they definitely have got one.

Australian all-rounder Ben McDermott goes UNSOLD
Indian wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha goes unsold in the IPL 2019 auctions.
Delhi Capitals snatch Axar Patel for 5 crores from Kings XI Punjab. Delhi needed all-rounders after letting three of them go for a trade with Sunrisers to bring Shikhar Dhawan back.
Indian all-rounder Axar Patel, who was released by Kings XI Punjab prior to the auctions is quite expectedly going for plenty. The current bid is with Delhi Capitals at 3.8 crores. KXIP are fully in the fight mind you.
Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has been picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 1 crore.
BIG NEWS from the auctions so far. The nightmare turns a reality, Yuvraj Singh goes UNSOLD despite lowering his base price to 1 crore. He will surely comeback later in the pool but a big setback for India’s world cup hero.
Indian all-rounder Gurkeerat Singh Mann is sold for his base price of 50 lakhs to Royal Challengers Bangalore.
England all-rounder Chris Jordan is UNSOLD. The early trend shows England players will not attract the franchises this year, a complete opposite of last year, where 12 England cricketers played in the league.
A great day for Brathwaite. From a base price of 75 lakhs, he attracts 5 crores. He goes to Kolkata Knight Riders after a prolonged battle – the longest so far – with KXIP. A back-up option for Andre Russell for sure.
West Indies T20 captain Carlos Brathwaite is up next and immediately KKR jump in the bidding, perhaps keeping his performance in World T20 2016 final at the Eden Gardens in mind. It is now a battle between KKR and KXIP. The bid is with KXIP with 2 crore.
No takers for England all-rounder Chris Woakes, he goes UNSOLD. England’s tight schedule before the World Cup has surely forced the franchises to look away from Woakes. He last represented RCB in the IPL.
New Zealand opener Martin Guptill goes UNSOLD. Again another prolific T20 cricketer but rarely attracts bids in the IPL.
Brendon McCullum is UNSOLD. Yes, you read that right. But that shouldn’t come as a huge surprise considering that it has been two years that McCullum is away from international cricket. His base price of INR 2 crore too was a bit high.
Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad fought tooth and nail but Royal Challengers Bangalore came and stole Hetmyer with just one final bid. Hetmyer is sold to RCB for a whopping 4 crore 20 lakhs.
West Indies dashing middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer is up next in the auction. He had a terrific outing against India in the last series and quite naturally is attracting a bidding war between IPL franchises. Started with a base price of 50 lakhs, Hetmyer’s current bid is with the Rajasthan Royals for 2 crores.
Hanuma Vihari becomes the first player to be sold in IPL 2019 auctions. He is SOLD to Delhi Capitals for a whopping 2 crores. A great jump for Vihari.
India middle-order batsman Hanuma Vihari, who recently impressed everyone with his grit and determination, is attracting a fair bit in the auctions. The battle is going on between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. His base price was 50 lakhs but now the current bid is with Delhi at 1.5 crores. He is set to be the first player sold in IPL 2019 auctions.
Now that’s a surprise. England opening batsman Alex Hales, with a base price of 1.5 crores too goes unsold. He is one of the most prolific players in the shortest formats but somehow never attracts a bid in the IPL. Perhaps England’s schedule before the World Cup is a reason.
He may have been one of India’s mainstays in Australia but Cheteshwar Pujara continues to remain unsold in the IPL auctions. No takers for Pujara at the base price of 50 lakhs.
The first player out of the bag is middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary with a base price of 50 lakhs. He last represented Kings XI Punjab but was released by the franchise. NO TAKERS for Manoj Tiwary, he goes unsold.
BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary declares the IPL 2019 auctions open. Choudhary says: We face a lot of challenges to conduct IPL every year. This year too there was no difference as general elections are there but we have made point to make space for the tournament.
Diana Edulji gives the welcome address before the IPL 2019 auctions. IPL has played a great role in developing cricket both domestically and internationally, she said.

Which side needs what?

Mumbai:

A death bowler who can support Jasprit Bumrah. Possible options are West Indian seamers Sheldon Cottrell and Oshane Thomas. And probably a back-up for an out-of-form Keiron Pollard. All eyes will be on young Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dubey, who has base price of 20 lakhs.

RCB:

The frontrunners to bag Yuvaj Singh. The reason? There need for a solid Indian middle-order batsman.

Kings XI:

They are the ones with the most amount of money in their purse and boy they will need all of those. Kings XI Punjab have a chance to pick 11 Indian cricketers and 4 foreigners. Don’t be surprised if they al out for a Hanuma Vihair, Wriddhiman Saha or even Axar Patel, who was released by them prior to the auctions.

Capitals:

They got Shikhar Dhawan back and he will be a like-for-like replacement for Gautam Gambhir but the swap with Sunrisers has left them short in all-rounder’s department. They would also want a back-up wicket-keeping option for Rishabh Pant. Delhi keeper and India U-19 star Anuj Rawat can be an ideal option.

CSK:

The champions pretty much have all bases covered. But they would want a couple of youngsters to complement their experienced lot.

Sunrisers:

They let go of Dhawan, means they need a solid Indian opening partner with David Warner. Don’t be surprised if they again bid for Wriddhiman Saha, who was released because of his injury troubles.

KKR:

They are another franchise, who might go for Yuvraj Singh. But the real problem for KKRi s back-up options for their power-packed foreign recruits. Dale Steyn, Sam Curran will be on top of their lists as a replacement of Mitchell Johnson and Mitchell Starc.

Royals:

Like-for-like back-ups for Smith, Buttler and Stokes, an Indian fast bowler to fill Unadkat's spot (if they are not buying him back at a lower price), an extra spinner
