New Delhi: Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan was overjoyed to lead Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after regular skipper Hardik Pandya was ruled out due to injury on Sunday. Gujarat Titans, under skipper Rashid Khan, defeated defending champions CSK.


While David Miller notched up a heroic unbeaten 94 off 51 balls, all-rounder Rashid Khan played an electrifying cameo (21-ball 40 runs) to power Gujarat to victory.

When Gujarat needed 48 runs from 18 balls, Rashid Khan smashed three sixes and a four, giving Gujarat the required momentum when they were in a tough spot.


Excited about his captaincy debut in the IPL, Rashid Khan posted several pictures of the victory celebrations.


He wrote, "Was always a dream of mine to captain an IPL team... a dream I managed to fulfil and I will be forever thankful to Allah for. I would like to thank Gujarat Titans players who have contributed in my first win as captain. Last night was a truly special effort. Best seat in the house watching (David) Miller the Killer do what he does best." (sic)






He said, "It's a kind of dream captaining the team, but the overall the win made it memorable. I have been working hard on my batting. I consider myself an all-rounder and I want to fulfill that responsibility." (sic)
