New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings' middle-order star batter Ambati Rayudu created a stir in the cricketing world when he announced retirement from the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Saturday. However, what left everyone surprised was Rayudu quickly deleting the post about 2022 being his career's last ever IPL season. Twitterati was left confused why a serious topic like retirement was given such treatment from the veteran batter.

"I am happy to announce that this will be my last ipl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai Indians and Csk for the wonderful journey," he had tweeted.

Reacting to the fiasco, CSK CEO, Kasi Viswanathan told News9 that Ambati Rayudu is not retiring.

Elaborating the same to News9, Viswanathan said, "No no he's not retiring. Maybe he wasn't happy with his performances and might have put it out. Just a psychological thing, I reckon. He'll be with us."

Rayudu's deleted tweet caused a frenzy on social media. Check out some of the reactions:

Talking about Rayudu's IPL career, he has played 187 matches in his Indian Premier League (IPL) career during which he scored 3290 runs at an average of 29.  Rayudu hasn't been able to score many runs this season. In 12 IPL matches, the senior player has managed to score only 271 runs.
