New Delhi: Australian cricket team's star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has named his top-five T20 cricketers ever ahead of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021. The International Cricket Council (ICC) had asked Maxwell to pick five players who as per him fit into the T20 World XI. Maxwell chose five players who cover all the bases in the cricket field and can give tough competition to any five-a-side T20 team in the world.
The five players Maxwell has selected include are two all-rounders, one spinner, one wicket-keeper batsman and one fast bowler. He has not picked any Indian player. Maxwell picked Afghanistan's legendary leg-spinner Rashid Khan as the first player. Rashid Khan has played 281 T20 matches so far in which he has taken 388 wickets.
As the second player, Maxwell has selected West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell who has 6405 runs in T20 and also has 340 wickets.
As the third player, Maxwell has included England's all-rounder Ben Stokes who has scored 2865 runs in 148 T20 matches and has also taken 86 wickets.
Maxwell picked ex-Aussie wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist as the fourth player. As the fifth player, he has selected former Australian speedster Shaun Tait. Due to his speed and accurate yorkers, he has given him a place in the top 5 T20 players.
The T20 World Cup is set to start from October 17 and the final match of the tournament will be played on November 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Team India is being considered as a strong contender for the title this year.
The T20 World was earlier slated to take place in India, but due to spurt of Coronavirus cases in the country, ICC decided to shift the mega-event to UAE and Oman.
