Punjab Kings' left-handed batsman and self-proclaimed 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle achieved a huge milestone in his very first of Indian Premier league (IPL) 2021. Chris Gayle, on Monday, became the first batsman to hit 350 sixes in IPL history. The flamboyant batsman achieved this feat in the IPL match against Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.


Chris Gayle hammered Ben Stokes for a huge six over mid-wicket on the third ball of the eighth over of Punjab's innings to attain this elusive feat.  In the very next over, he hit another six off the ball of Rahul Tewatia. However, Gayle was dismissed by Riyan Parag in the 10th over. He scored 40 runs off just 28 balls with help of four fours and two gigantic sixes.

After Chris Gayle, former South African skipper and RCB legend AB de Villiers has hit the maximum number of sixes in the Indian Premier League (IPL). de Villiers has hit 237 sixes in 170 IPL matches.


At the same time, Chennai Super Kings' captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is at the third spot of this elite list with 216 sixes. The CSK legend has hammered all these sixes in 205 IPL games. After Dhoni, defending champions Mumbai Indians' legendary captain Rohit Sharma (214) and RCB captain Virat Kohli (201) hold the fourth and fifth position respectively.


After Mayank Agarwal's early dismissal in this match, Gayle, who came to bat at number three, played a crucial innings for Punjab.  He shared a 67-run partnership for the second wicket with captain KL Rahul, who scored 91 off 50 balls.  Thanks to Rahul's innings, Punjab scored 221 runs for 6 wickets batting first.  In reply, Rajasthan could score only 217 runs and lost the nail-biting thriller by just 4 runs.
