IPL 2021: Sanju Samson Becomes First-Ever IPL Captain To Achieve THIS Elusive Feat

View In AppThis is Sanju Samson's first ton as a captain and overall third in IPL. In his first match as captain, he scored 119 runs off 63 balls with 12 fours and seven sixes, breaking Shreyas Iyer's record of highest score in the first match as captain. Iyer had scored 93 runs in his first IPL game as Delhi Capitals skipper. Iyer had played this innings against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018. Samson is also the youngest batsman to score first three IPL centuries. He has equaled AB de Villiers in terms of scoring centuries in IPL. AB de Villiers has also scored three centuries in IPL. In the history of Indian Premier League (IPL), maximum centuries have been scored by Chris Gayle (6), Virat Kohli (5), David Warner (4) and Shane Watson (4). Samson is the sixth player to score a century as captain in the IPL. Before him Sachin Tendulkar, Adam Gilchrist, Virat Kohli, David Warner and KL Rahul have scored centuries as captain.
