New Delhi: Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175-run knock as the Indian cricket team posted 574/8 against Sri Lanka on Day 2 of India vs Sri Lanka 1st Test at Punjab's Mohali Cricket Stadium on Saturday.


The Indian bowlers managed to put the hosts in command of the two-match series opener by scalping three wickets before the end of Day 2's play. At Stumps, Sri Lanka was 108/4 and trailed India by 466 runs.

For the visitors, Pathum Nissanka (26*) and Charith Asalanka (1*) remained unbeaten at crease. Spinner R Ashwin was the pick of Indian bowlers as he picked 2 wickets and bowled 7 maiden overs out of the 13 overs he bowled on Day 2.


Ashwin gave 21 runs during his spell. Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket for 30 runs in his 9 overs. Jasprit Bumrah also got a breakthrough.






After opening partnership of 48 runs, Sri Lanka lost two wickets in a span of 11 runs. Ashwin trapped Lahiru Thirimanne for an LBW, while Jadeja too got Dimuth Karunaratne LBW out to put India on top. Thirimanne scored 17 and Karunaratne made 28 runs. Bumrah then joined the party and got the important wicket of senior batter Angelo Mathews (22 runs) when Sri Lanka's score was 96.
