World Test Championship 2021 Final: The final match of the ICC World Test Championship will be played between India and New Zealand in Southampton, England on June 18. Two former England captains Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook have described New Zealand as a contender for victory. Both the veteran players believe that New Zealand has the advantage of having played a two-match Test series against England before the WTC final.
New Zealand will win the title according to Michael Vaughan. The former captain said, "I think New Zealand will win. I know that I will get pelters on social media for speaking against India. But looking at New Zealand's performance in the last two Tests against England, I think they will win. I like every aspect of their game."
WTC 2021 Final: Jadeja-Ashwin will prove to be important in the final, claims Sunil Gavaskar.
According to Vaughan, New Zealand's bowling attack is its strength. He said, "New Zealand has been able to play disciplined cricket for a long time. They bat with maturity and are able to assess the situation properly. Their bowling attack is very skillful."
Cook also favours the New Zealand team.
Cook believes that the New Zealand team is aware of the English conditions. Cook said, "New Zealand will win. They are better prepared for the final, after their victory over England. They are used to playing in English conditions."
New Zealand did not get off to a good start in the ICC World Test Championship and initially suffered a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Australia. But after beating India, Pakistan, and Windies, New Zealand managed to reach the final. New Zealand has also been in great form after beating England 1-0 recently.
