Struggling middle-order batter KL Rahul, recently stripped from India's Test captaincy, and talented youngster Shubman Gill, being considered as one of the frontrunners to replace Rahul in India's Test squad, were seen practicing together in nets ahead of India vs Australia 3rd Test in Indore, PTI reported. India are 2-0 up in four-match Test series and will need to produce at least a 3-0 or 3-1 win against Australia to reach World Test Championsip (WTC) 2023 Final

In what could be a final training session ahead of Indore Test that starts on Wednesday, Rahul, who averages 33.44 after 47 Tests, put in the hard yards, mostly playing defensive strokes in the nets.
The star player received plenty of backing from the Indian management but his repeated failures and prolonged lean patch in the longest format is mounting pressure on him. Shubman Gill, on the other hand, is a star in making. His recent form and some match winning performances have made many believe this is possibly the best time to draft him into the playing eleven.

Rahul left and blocked the first 18 balls he faced before practicing the aerial hits down the ground off spinners. He then traded places with Gill to face R Ashwin and there also, he looked to play everything with a straight bat.
Before batting alongside Rahul, Gill was the first member of the team to hit the nets as other underwent warm-up and fielding drills.

After their stint in the main nets, both Gill and Rahul moved to the other side of the ground to face a few throwdowns.
