One of the greatest footballers in history Lionel Messi scored once again as Inter Miami went on to reach the final of the Leagues Cup after defeating Philadelphia Union 4-1 in a one-sided semifinal on Tuesday. This was Messi’s 9th goal for his new club and all of his goals have come in the same tournament.

It was in the 20th minute of the game when Messi scored with a long-range pass beyond the penalty area. Fans were elated to see the terrific goal by the legendary footballer. Messi also ran towards fans by extending his arms after scoring a goal.  Apart from Messi, the other three goals were scored by Josef Martinez, Messi's former Barcelona team-mate Jordi Alba, and substitute David Ruiz.

Post the semi-final game, Messi was spotted exchanging jerseys with his fellow Argentinian and Philadelphia Union forward Julian Carranza. He then wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram after powering Inter Miami into the final stage of the Leagues Cup. “We worked our way to the finals and we made it! We're still on the last step at Leagues Cup,” the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner wrote.

Philadelphia Union coach Jim Curtain also looked to be quite impressed with Inter Miami’s winning streak. “They’re [Inter Miami] only going to get better. That Miami team is gonna go. Their ownership is going to spend like crazy. They’re going to make them the best team in the league. They might already be the best team in the league. That’s coming and I don’t think anything’s stopping them,” Curtain was quoted as saying by the Associated Press.

The Argentina-based player will now be seen in action when Inter Miami will play against Nashville SC or CF Monterrey in the final.
