New Year Celebrations started early in Argentina as they became the FIFA Men's World Cup champions. As soon as La Albiceleste defeated France in the finals of the World Cup at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, seemingly the entire nation was on the roads celebrating the country's third FIFA World Cup and the first one for their hero Lionel Messi in possibly his last attempt to lift it.

In the end it was all worth it. Messi's post on Instagram moments after having lifted the trophy soon became the most liked picture on the platform ever, a testimony to what his achievement meant not only to him but also to his fans who are spread all around the world.

However, being as popular as Messi comes at its own cost. In a video which is now doing the rounds on the internet, Messi could be seen mobbed by his fans as he went to attend one of his relative's birthday in his hometown of Rosario in Argentina. Everybody wanted the picture of the seven time Ballon d'Or Winner who now also has the World Cup trophy in his cabinet.

We will wait for Leo Messi to come back to continue scoring and winning games: Mbappe

Meanwhile, Messi's Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate Kylian Mbappe, who was on the losing side in the night of the FIFA World Cup final despite netting a historic hat-trick, has said that he is bothered with the wild celebrations of some members of the Argentinian squad. He added the Ligue 1 giants are waiting for Messi to comeback and contribute in their victories moving forward.

"Celebrations are not my problem. Don't waste energy on such futile things, the important thing for me is to give the best of myself for my club, and we will wait for Leo Messi to come back to continue scoring and winning games," Mbappe said while interacting with the media as quoted in a report by Sportstkeeda.

Meanwhile, PSG manager Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Messi will rejoin the squad on January 2 or 3.
