Argentina’s star player Leandro Paredes has disclosed that his teammate Lionel Messi has gifted him his La Liga 2020-21 Best Player award. “He [Messi] arrived in Paris, I asked him if he would give it to me and he gave it to me.” Paredes was a member of Argentina’s 2022 World Cup-winning squad and he showed journalists all the trophies and medals that he won during his career as of now.

In his 17-year-long career, Messi has clinched 10 La Liga titles, seven Copas del Rey, and four Champions Leagues with Barcelona. The 35-year-old has 15 Argentine Footballer of the Year awards, six European Golden Shoes, and seven Ballons d’Or in his kitty.

After quitting Barcelona, Messi joined hands with PSG for a two-year deal but as per the reports, there are talks going around that Messi’s departure looks unavoidable.  Recently, tennis legend Roger Federer came up with a heartwarming note where he wrote, “Lionel Messi’s goal-scoring records and championship wins need no recounting here. What stands out to me about Messi, 35, is his consistent greatness over so many years. This is so difficult to achieve, and then maintain. He dribbles like a magician, and his angular passes are works of art. His awareness and anticipation are almost beyond comprehension”.

“My career has just come to an end. I now realize how much weight we athletes carry. But in our daily lives, we don’t even realize it. For a football player like Messi, that weight likely feels more massive, as he represents both a world-renowned club and a very passionate country,” he added.

“Argentina’s World Cup victory was magnificent. Millions of fans’ taking to the streets of Buenos Aires to celebrate was an amazing moment in sports, witnessed around the world. Even those who don’t follow football must have realized the true impact of the world’s most popular game.”
