Euro 2024: Spain and Germany played out one of the most memorable matches in the history of Euros, as the former clinched a 2-1 victory (after extra time) over the hosts to break the hearts of local fans, and with the defeat, the iconic career of legendary Toni Kroos officially comes to an end.

Dani Olmo opened the scoring for Spain with a decisive strike that was assumed to be the point of difference in the quarter final fixture, until an 89th minute strike from Florian Wirtz pushed the game into extra time.

Just when everyone thought that penalty shootout will produce the outcome of the fixture, Mikel Merino came out of the blue to thump in a header in the 119th minute to clinch a 3-1 win for Spain.

"Everything happened in one millisecond. As soon as I saw that Dani [Olmo] had the ball, I knew he had a lot of quality and that he would put an amazing cross in. I only had to make the run, jump and direct the header. The rest is history!," said Merino during the post-match interview.

"It's My Best Night With National Team": Dani Olmo

Dani Olmo was awarded the Player of the Match award after the Spaniard scored the opener and assisted Mikel Merino for the winner, as Spain have now advanced to the semi finals.

"It was a difficult game. It went to extra time, which is also complicated, but in the end we deserved the win. We're celebrating and enjoying the moment. This is probably my best night with the national team," said Olmo during the post-match interview.
