Al-Nassr has completed one more high-profile transfer. The club which boasts of the services of Cristiano Ronaldo managed to acquire the services of Sadio Mane, the former Livepool forward, who had years left on his Bayern Munich contract. While Mane did impress initially in his Munich stint, the 31-year-old netted 12 goals in 38 matches for the club in the season which was surely not his best. The Senegal player wasn't in the news for all the good reasons either, infamously getting involved in a physical alteraction with Manchester City's Leroy Sane in the Manchester City dressing room after losing a Champions League game.
While Munich had to pay £35m to Liverpool to get Mane on board, it is being learnt that they managed to regain most of that amount. Jan-Christian Dreesen, the CEO of Bayern, said that Mane did not have an easy year at the club.
"We want to thank Sadio Mané for the past season. It certainly wasn’t an easy year for him, getting injured just before the World Cup and being unable to take part in it with Senegal, who he’d previously led to a first triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification," he said as per an official release.
"Because of his long lay-off, he also couldn’t have the impact at FC Bayern that we all and he himself had hoped for. That’s why we came to the joint decision that he’ll begin a new chapter in his career and make a new start at a different club. We wish him all the best and lots of success for the challenges ahead at Al Nassr," he added.
The former Southampton player has agreed on a four-year deal with Al-Nassr and it would be interesting to see him play alongside Ronaldo.
