Premier League: The Premier League has released an official statement on Thursday, April 11, stating that the league has decided to introduce the Semi Automated Offside Technology from next season onwards. A meeting between the members of the Premier League clubs and the Premier League board took place and the decision has come in the aftermath of the agreement between the parties for the implementation of the technology.
Speaking of the technology, legendary referee Pierluigi Collina, who is currently the Chairman of FIFA’s Referee Committee said the following in concern with same back in 2022:
"We expect that semi-automated offside technology can take us a step further. Sometimes, the process to check a possible offside takes too long, especially when the offside incident is very tight. This is where semi-automated offside technology comes in - to offer faster and more accurate decisions."

"At a Premier League Shareholders’ meeting today, clubs unanimously agreed to the introduction of Semi-Automated Offside Technology. The new system will be used for the first time in the Premier League next season, and it is anticipated the technology will be ready to be introduced after one of the autumn international breaks. The technology will provide quicker and consistent placement of the virtual offside line, based on optical player tracking, and will produce high-quality broadcast graphics to ensure an enhanced in-stadium and broadcast experience for supporters," said Premier League in a released statement.
