It was an action packed New Year's Eve at the Premier League this time around. However, results that headlined the set of fixtures on December 31 saw Arsenal register a 4-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion and end 2022 at the top of the table with 43 points. Manchester City who managed to play out a 1-1 draw with Everton are second with 36 points while Newcastle finished the year placed third with 34 points.

Newcastle, too, couldn't get the three points on Saturday as they played out a goalless draw with Leeds United. The Gunners' match against Brighton was a goal-studded affair with Bukayo Saka opening the scoring for Arsenal in the second minute of the match. Martin Odegaard doubled the lead in just the 39th minute while Eddie Nketiah scored the third goal of the match extending the team's lead further in the 47th minute.

While Kaoru Mitoma did pull one back for Brighton in the 65th minute of the match but any hopes of a Seagulls comeback were shattered Gabriel Martinelli netted the fourth goal for the Gunners in the 71st minute. Even Ferguson's  77th minute strike only proved to be a consolation goal for the home team.

Haaland Scores Again In City's Draw with Everton

In the other big match of the day, Man City played out a 1-1 draw with Everton. It was Erling Haaland once again who scored for City and put them in the lead in the 24th minute. The Cityzens even went to half-time with 1-0 lead but couldn't hold on to it for long as Demarai Gray scored the equaliser for Everton who now find themselves 16th place with 15 points.

Meanwhile, Brentford registered a 2-0 win over West Ham, Liverpool won 2-1 over Leicester City, Man United beat Wolves 1-0, Fulham clinched 3 points handing a defeat to 2-1, Crystal Palace came out on top in the match against Bournemouth 2-0.
