Manchester United have shared a special post in concern with the four-year aniversary of their association with Portuguese superstar footballer, Bruno Fernandes, who joined the Premier League club back in 2020, on January 30, from Primiera Liga club Sporting CP. Ever since he joined the Red Devils, his career changed drastically as he has progressed and earned every accolade and praise along the way.
Bruno Fernandes has had his fair share of applauds and criticism his entire career and this season is no different, given the dismal form of Manchester United across all competitions. However, the Portuguese playmaker has maintained his form this season and did score the opener against Newport United in their FA Cup Round 4 match as FA Cup stands as the sole realistic hope for any silverware to grace the trophy cabinet of the iconic Old Trafford.
Bruno Fernandes' Iconic Rise At Manchester United
Bruno Fernandes made a name for himself during his time at Sporting CP as the Portuguese was a menace for almost 3 years, and racked up staggering numbers and bunch of silverware during his time in Portugal. The Portuguese recorded his highest goal-scoring season ever in 2018/19, where he scored 31 goals across all competitions, alongside 15 assists to make it 46 goal contributions for the season.
After recording 62 goals and 43 assists in 135 matches across two and a half seasons at Sporting CP, many top European clubs came in running for his signature but it was Manchester United that were successful in grabbing his signature as the Prtuguese joined the Red Devils in Winter Transfer Window of 2020.
The 29-year old then managed to record his highest ever goal contributions season during the 2020-21 season where his 28 goals and 18 assists helped the club finish second in the league and runners up in the Europa League.
However, the 2023-24 season hasn't been a fond one as even though he contributed with 2 goals and 2 assists in UEFA Champions League, the club still finished last in their group and crashed out of every possible competition in Europe. The current United captain will be looking to better his record and aim to finish the remainder of the season on a better note.
