France and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Kylian Mbappe has reportedly informed his club that he won't be extending his contract beyond 2024. This means that if his contract expires next year, then the World Cup winner with France will be able to leave the club as a free agent. The Ligue 1 champions are now eager to avoid that situation and apart from convincing Mbappe to sign a contract extension, they would also mull over the possibility of selling him this year while he is still a contracted footballer.
A report carried by French agency Agence France-Presse (AFP) has claimed that Mbappe has informed the club of his decision to not renew his contract with PSG in a letter to the club. If indeed this report holds some truth, then it would be a huge blow to the club who have already lost Lionel Messi to Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami. The report further claims that Mbappe had ime till July 31 to decide but he has already made up his mind.
Mbappe had been linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier as well but on that occasion he had made a last-minute U-turn to remain at PSG. As of now, it looks like Madrid are once again going to one of the sides that remain interested in roping him in. However, if Mbappe remains till 2024 without actually signing a contract, it would mean that PSG will not only lose the player but also millions of euros in transfer money. If this wasn't enough, even the future of Neymar who is contracted until 2025, remains doubtful.
Despite having nothing short of a dream team at this disposal, PSG have failed to win the UEFA Champions League which was bagged by Manchester City who became the second English club to complete a treble. Man City beat Inter Milan in the summit clash with the help of a 68th minute goal from Rodri.
