Kylian Mbappe Being 'Investigated For Rape': A Swedish media report has claimed that Kylian Mbappe is being 'investigated for rape' in Sweden. However, the French football star has said that he has become a victime of 'fake news', denying any authenticity whatsoever over the claims made in this report.


Notably, the news was first broken by Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet but did not name the accused. Later, it was Expressen who name Mbappe as the prime suspect.

"According to information obtained by Expressen, police are investigating the star who is reasonably suspected of rape and sexual assault," the newspaper wrote.


Swedish law enforcement have categorised the level of suspicion as reasonable or probable. Mbappe being named as a 'reasonable suspect' means he is a suspect of a lower degree of suspicion. However, Mbappe has said that he has become a victim of a "fake news".

Notably, Mbappe was left out of the France squad for their UEFA Nations League match against Israel and Belgium. While it was reported that Mbappe has been left out so that he can recover from an injury but he was spotted in a night club in Sweden at the same time as France squared off against Israel.

While there have been reports of a rift between France coach Didier Deschamps and Mbappe, Deschamps has refrained from making any official statement that might have given the same impression.
