Josh Cavallo proposed his partner Leighton Morrell at Adelaide United's home ground with pictures and videos of his proposal going viral on social media. The 24-year-old had became the first publicly gay male professional footballer in Australia back in 2021. In a hearttfelt video which had made headlines three years ago, Cavallo had said: "There's something personal that I need to share with everyone: I'm a footballer, and I am gay."

While announcing his decision, the Aussie football player had revealed his fight against sexuality for more than six years while saying that he was tired of living a "double life". And now in a recent video on Thursday (March 14), he thanked his A-League clun for helping him plan the  surprise for his partner. The video was shared on Cavallo's official Instagram handle.

"Your endless support has meant so much to me," he wrote.

"You have provided a safe space in football, one that I never in my dreams thought could ever be possible, and encouraged me to live every day of my life authentically," he added.

Adelaide United Placed 11th On 12-Team Australian A-League Table

As far as Adelaide United are concerned, they currently find themselves languishing at the 11th place on the 12-team table with 19 points from 20 matches with the help of 5 wins, 4 draws and 11 defeats. They would certainly look to improve their position on the table as they are only 10 points behind the sixth-placed Melbourne City FC who have played a game extra.

Central Coast Mariners with 40 points from 21 matches and a better goal difference than Wellington Phoenix FC currently find themselves leading the league table.
