Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami have penned one of the most iconic deals of the decade as they have reportedly landed the legendary Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez at the club, thereby reuniting one of the most iconic duos of all time, by linking up with Lionel Messi. As per the famous transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Uruguayan has signed a one-year deal with an option to further extend the deal.
The 8-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi is arguably the greatest player of all time and has already established himself as an iconic figure within the few months at Inter Miami as they landed in their first trophy ever when the Messi-led side defeated Nashville FC in the inaugural Leagues Cup on penalties after the match ended 1-1 in regular time. The also came really close to landing in their second ever trophy but just fell short as they lost in the final 1-2 against Houston Dynamo FC. Ever since Messi got injured and was ruled out for a few matchdays, the rising performances of Inter Miami suddenly saw a dip and saw them go on a miserable run.
The addition of Luis Suarez will boost their scoring and creative department as the Uruguayan is one of the all-time greats in scoring, as well as assisting.
Best remembered for his antics at Barcelona and Liverpool, his ugly manner of release from FC Barcelona and re-emergence at Atletico Madrid further solidified his case of being the greatest striker of this era as he led his side to La Liga in 2020-21.
Luis Suarez departed from Atletico Madrid in June 2022, and returned to his boyhood club in Uruguay, at Nacional, where he fueled them to the title by scoring 8 goals in 14 appearances as Nacional won the Primera Division in 2022. He left his boyhood club to join the Brazilian club Gremio and also added more silverware in his cabinet as his consistent performances led Gremio to Gaucho 1. The 36-yr old almost led Gremio to the Serie A title (first division of Brazil) as Gremio just missed out on the title by 2 points to eventual winners Palmeiras.
The signing of the two-time Golden Shoe winner will complete 2/3rd of the most iconic trio in footballing history, consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, famously known as the MSN. The South Americans traumatized defences and sides during their three-year period at FC Barcelona before Neymar's transfer to PSG in 2017. Luis Suarez will most probably be handed his iconic number 9 on his shirt, which is currently acquired by Ecuadorian striker Leonardo Campana.
