The FIFA Club World Cup 2023 has commenced in Jeddah, featuring six continental champions alongside Saudi Arabia's representative, Al Ittihad. The tournament began on December 12th, with matches hosted at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium and King Abdullah Sports City.

Al Ittihad, led by the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema, triumphed 3-0 against Auckland City in the opening match. Their victory sets up a clash with Al Ahly of Egypt in the second round, while Club Leon of Mexico faces Japan’s Urawa Reds in the other second-round encounter.

The winners from these rounds will advance to the semi-finals, where they'll meet UEFA Champions League winners Manchester City and South American representatives Fluminense FC of Brazil.

The final showdown of the FIFA Club World Cup 2023 will take place on December 22nd at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah. Real Madrid, the most successful team in the tournament’s history, did not qualify this year after being ousted in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals by Manchester City.
