FA Cup 2024: Luis Diaz snatched a late goal for Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp's side clinched a sensational 2-0 victory in an intense match against Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. The victory also marked a long-awaited result as Liverpool beat Arsenal for the first time in the competition after 23 years (the last being in the iconic FA Cup 2001 Final).

The Merseyside club started slow in their proceedings as Arsenal dictated the possession and play in the first half as there were no such shots on goal offered and it ended goalless. However, the second half had a completely opposite start as constant pressure and counter-attacking play from both the sides electrified the atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium.

The first breakthrough came in the 80th minute as a Jakub Kiwior own goal gave The Reds a vital 1-0 lead with 10 minutes plus stoppage time left that time. Kiwior headed in a Trent Alexander Arnold's free kick at the near post as the Arsenal left-back had a torrid game before being subbed off in the 88th minute for midfielder Emile Smith Rowe. Things went from bad to worse for the Gunners as inspite of their immensely impressive attacking display, they couldn't breach a rock-solid defence of Liverpool and in search of an equaliser, they maintained a high line and Colombian Luis Diaz took advantage of it and scored the second goal in the added time (90+5th minute) to ensure a game-set-match for The Reds as they marched into Round 4 of the FA Cup 2024.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp was full of ecstasy after Diaz's winner as they maintain their commendable run in all competitions this season.

The German coach was full of praise in the post-match conference for his side and hailed the victory as "pretty special" as Liverpool await their next opponents in the FA Cup Round 4.
