Euro 2024 Final: Mikel Oyarzabal writes his name in the history books, as the Real Sociedad forward scored the winning goal for Spain late in the game against England to deliver La Roja their 4th Euro championship. It was a lovely one-two between Mikel Oyarzabal and Marc Cucurella, as the pair completed the counter-attack with perfection. The former received the ball from the Spanish left-back, and returned it back to him to complete a one-two, but it was sheer quality from Marc Cucurella to deliver an inch-perfect low cross into the box, which was met by Mikel Oyarzabal, who toe-poked his effort pass Jordan Pickford.

England had no time to find a late, late equaliser deep into the game, as Spain's winner shattered the English hopes. Cole Palmer's corner was their last straw of effort, wich was met by Declan Rice, but heroics from Unai Simon and Dani Olmo (on the rebound, saved with a header) put the game to bed, as few fouls followed in and referee Francois Letexier blew the full-time whistle.

Gutted Reaction From England Manager And Captain In The Post-Match Interview In The Aftermath Of England's Defeat

Gareth Southgate, England manager:

"I think Spain were the best team in the tournament. We didn't quite keep the ball well enough, but we were right in it until the last ten minutes. I'm devastated for everybody, really."

Harry Kane, England captain:

"It's hard to put into words how we're all feeling. It's an opportunity missed. You have to take it when it comes and we haven't done it again. It'll hurt for a long time."
