ENG vs NED Euro 2024 Semifinal: Ollie Watkins scored a dramatic injury-time goal on Thursday, July 11 (as per Indian Standard Time), securing England's 2-1 victory over Netherlands and booking their spot in the UEFA Euro 2024 final against Spain, set to unfold on July 15 (IST) in Berlin. Earlier in the match, England captain Harry Kane equalised with a penalty in the first half, following Xavi Simons' stunning long-range goal that had given the Dutch an early lead.

Despite lacklustre results in the group stage, including a goalless draw with France and a 2-3 defeat to Austria, the Dutch rebounded strongly in the knockout rounds. They trounced Romania 3-0 in the Round of 16 and secured a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Turkey in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the England team also scraped through the knockouts. England held their nerve in a penalty shootout to deny Switzerland in the quarterfinals, netting all five shots, with Jordan Pickford's heroics securing a 5-3 win.

England's Dramatic Win Sets Up Euro 2024 Final Clash With Spain

The semi-final started poorly for England as Xavi Simons put Netherlands ahead in the seventh minute by intercepting Declan Rice and hitting a powerful shot past Jordan Pickford.

England quickly responded after a contentious VAR decision awarded them a penalty. German referee Felix Zwayer ruled that Denzel Dumfries had fouled Harry Kane in the box. Kane confidently converted the penalty, levelling the score at 1-1.

The game seemed headed for extra time until Watkins, who had come on as a substitute for Kane, received a pass from fellow substitute Cole Palmer. With his back to the goal, Watkins turned and fired a low shot into the far corner in the first minute of stoppage time, stunning Netherlands.
