Al-Nassr vs Al-Hilal Highlights: Saudi Arabia's club Al-Nassr created history as football legend Cristiano Ronaldo's heroics led them to their maiden Arab Club Championship Cup title at the King Fahd Stadium on Saturday. Al-Nassr clinched the coveted title by defeating fellow Saudi team Al-Hilal 2-1 in extra time. Few months back in the 2022/23 Saudi Pro League in May, Al-Nassr had missed out on winning the Saudi Pro League title as they drew 1-1 against Al Ettifaq, while Al Ittihad were crowned champions. Back then, fans and critics had blasted captain Ronaldo, also their most expensive player, for not succeeding in leading Al-Nassr to the league title. This time, the club and Ronaldo made no mistake as Al-Nassr won the Arab Club Champions title due to the brilliance of 38-year-old Ronaldo, who scored twice to take his tally to 7 in the tournament, making him the highest goalscorer in this championship.
Al-Nassr were behind 0-1 after the half-time. Ronaldo then netted a goal in the 74th minute to level scores 1-1 and soon in the drying minutes of the match, the Portuguese legend scored the decisive goal with a stunning header to give Al-Nassr the lead as well as their first-ever Arab Club Champions trophy.
Al-Nassr's historic win was quite emotional for Cristiano Ronaldo, who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to thank fans for their constant support. He wrote: "Extremely proud to helped the team winning this important trophy for the 1st time! Thank you to everyone in the club that was involved in this great achievement and to my familly and friends for always being by my side! Fantastic support by our fans! This also belongs to you."
