Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo's elder brother Hugo dos Santos Aveiro has been accused of fraud by the Italian Public Prosecutor's Office. The case is related to the selling of counterfeit Juventus jerseys. Hugo is all set to face legal proceedings for selling jerseys which had the image and signature of Ronaldo but Hugo had apparently not taken the necessary permissions and licenses.

A report carried by ‘Corriere dello Sport' has claimed that Hugo will now have to undergo a legal trial for his alleged involvement in this jersey fraud. The same report has suggested that the investigation in this regard began as early as 2019 and the objective was to determine whether there was fraud against the company ‘Pegasso’. Notably, this is the company with which Ronaldo had signed a deal for the online selling of sports clothing for the Serie A club Juventus.

On the professional front, Ronaldo has long ended his Juve chapter. After his stint with the Italian club, he returned to Manchester United for a second stint where he had a blockbuster start. But things fell apart in the second season where his form dipped and he was also not the preferred starting choice under Erik Ten Hag. Then after an explosive interview with journalist Piers Morgan, Ronaldo's contract was terminated at the Old Trafford.

Even though there were a lot  of speculation regarding Ronaldo's future after that, he joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr on a 2 and a half year contract  which reportedly has made him the world's highest paid football. The 38-year-old's contract is reportedly worth more than 200 million euros ($214.04 million) even though no financial details of the clause has been shared by the club. With reports suggesting Lionel Messi could also move to Saudi Arabia, the iconic rivalry of Ronaldo vs Messi could find a golden ending chapter, if such a move materialises.
