AFC Asian Cup 2024: Iran and Palestine observed a one-minute silence moments before the kick-off of their Group C fixture in the Asian Cup 2024 amidst ongoing war and tension between Israel and Palestine. The silence was in concern with the deaths and massacre caused by the fatal war activities leading in indefinite amount of loss of assets and most importantly, lives.
Several children and adults have faced the wrath of the bombings and the toll of deaths is just increasing day by day. There are no such signs of halt or pause in the respective department as peace seems a distant dream among the two countries. Inspite of the adversities, sport is something that unifies the concept of harmony, peace, and respect.
Iran Vs Palestine Match Report
Palestine already had a mammoth task on their hands to avoid a defeat against the mighty Iranians and they started their match on absolutely wrong foot as it took Iran less than 120 seconds to score the opener via Karim Ansarifard, who was assisted for his opener by defensive midfielder Saman Ghoddos.
The midfielder was on the mark again 10 minutes later as he assisted Shoja Khalilzadeh for the second goal of the match as Iran already looked like humbling Palestine within the first 15 minutes of the match as they led 2-0.
Things were inevitably meant to go from bad to worse for Palestine and it did happen as Iran notched up their third goal via Mehdi Ghayedi before Palestine salvaged some pride by scoring in the added time of the first half with midfielder Tamer Seyam finishing the effort past Alireza Beiranvand.
AS Roma's talisman Sardar Azmoun grabbed the fourth and final goal of the game as he came off the bench in the second half and scored in the 55th minute as Iran started their campaign with a 4-1 victory.
