New Delhi: One of the greatest football players of all time Diego Maradona breathed his last on November 25, 2020. He passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Tigre reportedly. Maradona was best known for leading Argentina to the 1986 Football World Cup title. Earlier this month, on November 3, the footballer had undergone surgery for a brain clot.   • Diego Maradona married his long-time girlfriend Claudia Villafane on November 7, 1984.
  • The couple has two daughters together – Dalma Nerea and Giannina Dinorah.
  • Maradona was handed a 15-month suspension in 1991 after he was tested positive for using cocaine.
  • In 2004, he suffered a major myocardial infarction following a cocaine overdose.
  • In the same year, the football legend got divorced from Claudia Villafane. He confirmed during the divorce proceedings having an illegitimate son named Diego Sinagra, an Italian footballer.
  • Maradona also disclosed having an illegitimate daughter named Jana Maradona with Valeria Sabalain.
  • Diego Maradona accused his two daughters and his ex-wife of stealing 4.5 million dollars and asked them to be in jail.
  • In 2019, Maradona accepted being the father of eight children reportedly and also has a child named Diego Fernando from his relationship with Veronica Ojeda.
Maradona was the coach of Gimnasia y Esgrima. His last public appearance was when he was presented with a commemorative plaque ahead of his side's game with Patronato. He had turned 60 last month on October 30. Maradona represented Argentina 91 times during which he scored 34 goals. He represented Argentina in four World Cups – 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994.
