'Eid Mubarak Everyone': Sania Mirza, Virat Kohli & Others Extend Eid-ul-Fitr 2021 Wishes To Fans

Eid falls on the first day of the month of 'Shawwal'. In some households, Eid-ul-Fitr is also called Ramadan Eid or Ramzan.   

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated today across the country. People in different parts of the country and world have commenced with celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr after a month-long fasting.

Amid Covid-19 pandemic, Muslim clerics have appealed to observe social distancing to celebrate Eid. Shahi Imam Maulana Mufti Mukarram said that the first date of Shawwal (10th month of Islamic calendar) will be on Friday. Eid falls on the first day of the month of 'Shawwal'. In some households, Eid-ul-Fitr is also called Ramadan Eid or Ramzan.

Sports personalities took to social media to wish everyone on Eid-ul-Fitr and urged to maintain social distancing amid Covid-19 pandemic.

"In these unprecedented times, let the spirit of Eid bring love, peace and joy to all. Eid Mubarak. Stay safe," Kohli tweeted.

"Eid Mubarak everyone," Tennis star Sania Mirza tweeted with a hug emoji.

"Eid Mubarak to all that are celebrating," England's Sam Billings tweeted.

"EID MUBARAK to Everyone Around the world," tweeted Afghanistan's star spinner Rashid Khan.

"Eid mubarak to everyone celebrating," tweeted Shreevats Goswami.

The meaning of Eid-ul-Fitr is the 'Festival of breaking the fast' or 'Festival of Donating'.

There are many meanings based on one's belief and yet Eid-ul-Fitr continues to be celebrated around the world at the end of the month-long festival of Ramzan or Ramadan as the Arabic pronunciation goes. According to the Shahi Imam of Masjid Fatehpuri of Old Delhi, Eid is being celebrated on May 14 based on the sighting of the moon.
