New Delhi: In-form star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant is all set to lead Delhi Capitals (DC), one of the most consistent teams since the last three seasons, in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.


Ahead of the start of mega event, Pant, who joined the Delhi squad last week only, spoke openly about the new season, his team, bonding of him and the rest of the players with head coach Ricky Ponting and his views on IPL taking place in India for the first time after two years. Delhi Capitals are slated to play their first match against four-time winners Mumbai Indians on March 27.

"It's always special whenever I meet him. It's like meeting a family member. Whenever he comes to the field, he brings that energy out of everyone. Everyone looks up to him. Everyone expects that he is going to say something different. He is going to attract everybody. So everyone is looking positive after watching Ricky in action," Pant told the Delhi Capitals.






Pant said the Delhi Capitals squad feels fresh.


"As a team, we are discussing the environment to create in the team. Actually, it feels like a new team. I was observing the guys who had come in. Everybody seems to be in a good frame of mind, they are willing to care for each other and help others.


"We are having a really good practice session. Hopefully, we can take this to the match situation," Pant added.


IPL 2022 will be played in front of the home fans in India. Reacting to this, Pant said: "Very excited to return to India. The feeling of a home crowd is completely different. We are enjoying the conditions here."
